“Said you might have had some but you need a real one,
You might have had some but you need a real one,
You might have had some but you need a real one,
Said you might have had some but you need a real one.”

Thursday, November 26th, 2015, Brooklyn, New York emcee Fabolous released another free mixtape to the world entitled Summertime Shootout (the first one he released for free in 2015 is called Friday Night Freestyles; a classic for 90s Era Hip-Hop Heads.) Given the reputation ‘Loso has for creating high-quality, boom-bap style raps, he did not disappoint with this project.

Track number two on Summertime Shootout is called Real One ft.Jazzy; an artist most people have never heard of but do not discredit her musical ability; she gets her moment to shine near the end. The song begins with a sample of Lauryn Hill‘s vocals from the song she did with The Fugees back in 1996 titled Killing Me Softly. Now, if you’re not familiar with The Fugees, you pretty much suck. The Fugees were a short-lived Hip-Hop/Rap & R&B trio but in their time together, they made timeless music and it’s evident here, because even ‘Loso recognizes it by sampling the soulful, Lauryn Hill.

What I also like about this song is that ‘Loso took a classic record like Killing Me Softly and put his own, modern spin on it with help from newcomer disc jockey, DJ Automatik.

Needless to say, this track is a blessing. If you love Hip-Hop or appreciate bars and storytelling, you’ll enjoy this track without a doubt. Take it from me, the EinsteinOfRap; I wouldn’t be vocal about this track if I didn’t think it was great. And! if listening to this song made you want to get the mixtape, you can download it… here!

#SONGOFTHEDAY #3 Nothing Else Matters

It’s that time again!

In 1991, heavy metal group Metallica released what would be their most successful album of all time, Metallica or as most fans call it, The Black Album. What’s impressive about The Black Album is it remains to be on the Billboard charts for three hundred weeks as of April 2014. Must I write more? This means it is the ONLY album with the most weeks on the Billboard charts in history.

But I don’t have to explain why this song is amazing, I’ll let your ears do that for you.
Behold the empowerment that is Metallica!

#SONGOFTHEDAY #2 Thugz Mansion (Acoustic)

In 2002, Tupac Shakur’s fourth posthumous album Better Dayz was released and it was the last double-disc project from the late-legend. It is without said that even in today’s society, people still listen to 2Pac’s music and appreciate what he has done for Hip-Hop culture. There’s not a doubt in my mind that Pac’s smiling at us from heaven because of this.

The song above is Thugz Mansion (Acoustic Version) featuring a verse from Nasir Jones alongside are soulful vocals from singer J. Phoenix. I must admit, this song is a prime example where I am left absolutely speechless. Emotions run deep, and reality strikes simultaneously; Tupac Shakur is gone, but not forgotten. In addition, this record is without a doubt one of my favourite hip-hop tracks of all time, simply because it’s rare to listen to 2Pac and Nas rap on soft, acoustic guitar strings.

Whether this is your first time listening to this track or not, take the time to hit play and unwind the mysteries of what the afterlife has in-store for us. Many can theorize but no one truly knows where we go when we pass on. However, when I die, I hope to see ‘Pac, B.I.G., Eazy, and all the legends of the music industry who passed on, at Thugz Mansion.

#SONGOFTHEDAY #1 Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Okay so this is the first time I’m posting my occasional #SONGOFTHEDAY video on my blog instead of on Twitter. I would like to point out yes it is indeed Sunday, and for some of us, we have school tomorrow:

However, here is something to enlighten your Sunday:
Bobby Mcferrin’s cheery song Don’t Worry, Be Happy which was released in 1988.
No matter what you’re going through today, don’t sweat it or over think it. Might make things worse yeah? Always look on the bright side of things and don’t worry, be happy. Simple motto right?

Take in the song, have it on repeat if it helps brighten your day a little.
This is what music’s here for; to open not only our eyes, but our ears and realize not everything in life is as serious as it seems. Loosen up a bit, relax and enjoy. Now take it away Bobby! 🙂
